I have always gone to Alice Bistro as my go-to restaurant when I don't know what to eat. The flavor is amazing and the staff is extremely polite and attentive. Many times, I see the staff building relations with their customers and making sure that everything is going fine.
I always get the Broccoli beef when it comes to the lunch menu specials because they give you an extremely large portion which I must admit is very worth in its price.
I would love to see others come and invest their time into this establishment for it to grow and produce more options for us. Please support this restaurant as it is worth every single dollar in your pocket!
Great neighborhood authentic Chinese restaurant. Spread the word please. Yelp hours are wrong. They open all evenings except Wednesday. Yelp please change your hours posting. Don't know any other Chinese restaurant in Alameda that's is authentic except this one.
By far the best Chinese food in Alameda, I recommend dining in so you can soak up the homestyle charm of Alice's Bistro. Attentive service, handpicked, fresh ingredients... We tried the beef and mushroom special which was tender, juicy, and the beech mushrooms soaked up the flavor beautifully. The sesame chicken is light, flavorful and it's broccoli crisp and bright. We have a new go-to!
What a wonderful neighborhood restaurant! A hidden gem with very courteous staff and a chef who prepares lovely dishes with clean flavors and quality ingredients. The tofu claypot and the freshly sauted pea sprouts with garlic sauce were so delicious. We will definitely be back.
The owners of Tin's Teapot Bistro in Hayward have opened a new restaurant in Alameda called Alice Bistro. It's located on Lincoln near Grand Street in the location formerly occupied by Wan's. It's very recently opened and there's nothing on the walls yet. Don't be confused by the lettering on the front window that still says Wan's.
Alice Bistro is much smaller than Tin's but our dinner was excellent. We started with some Westlake beef soup and plunged headlong into our mu shu chicken, mushrooms and veggies with Japanese fried tofu, and salt and pepper pork chops. We finished with their lobster and noodles dish from their daily specials list. It was all good stuff.
Don't think they'll be any dim sum at lunch. Service was fine. We parked right in front of the restaurant.
This restaurant is just getting going and I'm expecting big things once Alice's Bistro is really up and running. I'm excited that the legacy of the original Tin's Teahouse in Oakland Chinatown continues with Alice Bistro in Alameda.
For two people we tried the potstickers and an order of pork fried rice. The potstickers were delicious and the fried rice was very good as well. The only way to describe it is rustic. Very good and not full of fillers. Lots of pork and scallions for bright flavor. My daughter was loving the egg chunks(our favorite part). We live around the corner a couple blocks so it is nice to have a sit down option within walking distance.
Tsingtao's were cold. Alice is nice and the staff is phenomenal. Foods super authentic and filling. Reminds me of when I was vacationing in Shanghai.

This is a very interesting place located in a residential neighborhood with off street parkings only where one can easily misses the gem as the facade does not speaks to its authentic chinese dishes. The restaurant's capacity accommodates 25-35 guests, wall is specular cleaned, service station is neatly organized, it looked like it was converted to an authentic chinese restaurant from a fast food joint. While eating our lunch, there were many locals and regulars enjoying their meals. It's an excellent sign to support the local and small businesses.
We orders were hot and sour soup, salty pepper ribs, and house special pan fried noodles.
The noodles were crispy which compliment the oyster gravy. The house special had few shrimps, chinese greens, mushrooms, and squids. They were seasoned and cooked well.
The ribs had a crunch with toasted garlic and pepper which was very pleasing to taste, but lack salt.
The hot and sour soup had it's favor of vinegar and white pepper, but its too starchy which can be improved with less corn starch.
Overall, great experience and highly recommend to support the local business.
Alice Bistro serves what could be described as being some of the most exquisite Chinese comfort food, the clay pots are not to be missed! The delectable and perfectly cooked oxtail stew complemented with just the perfect amount of vegetables is simply succulent. The various other seafood dishes are executed well with not only tradition but a bit of an imaginative twist that Alice manages to subtly add taking these dishes to a new height. Alice Bistro is both a lovely restaurant where one could enjoy traditional dishes but also be treated to meticulously prepared cuisine.
Alice bistro is a small, charming restaurant in a quiet street on Alameda. The restaurant is clean and the service is impeccable. They serve authentic Chinese dishes and delicious house specials. They have dishes like garlic eggplant and chow mein. The food was very well made. They also serve some small mango dessert. Would highly recommend to check it out!
Consistently delicious food made with high quality ingredients. Staff is pleasant, helpful, and efficient.
If you want flavorful, good quality Chinese food...you must check this place out
Each dish had layers of flavor...depth
Like the yellow curry... you can tell the sauce has been simmering...thick, flavoful... the right spiciness... the food had a home meal quality in the comfort of a restaurant
Te service was efficient, friendly and professional
My favorite dishes were Mongolian beef
The best Mongolian beef I have ever had...
Salt & pepper pork chops,
Pea sprouts w garlic
All of the food we had was delicious
Went there for lunch today. The BBQ pork was excellent and my coworker had a duck sandwich that was fantastic. Clean, family operated restaurant. Very friendly, very clean. Veggies and meat were fresh and high quality. Will be back a lot.
Alice Bistro is a great neighborhood restaurant. We have visited the restaurant for years, and since Alice took over the management.
They serve quality food at Alice Bistro. We enjoy their chef's recommendations especially. I also enjoy their chicken noodle soup for lunch. It is a Vietnamese Pho with a Chinese twist. Very tasty and filling.
Alice and staff are friendly and efficient. They make us feel at home.
We highly recommend Alice Bistro.
Alice's Bistro is fantastic. Delicious food in all categories. Excellent customer service. Friendly, a local restaurant in Alameda.
A hidden secret.
Best Chinese food I've had in many years. Hot & Sour Soup is very tasty. Mongolian Beef - Excellent! Best fried Rice ever! Fresh Broccoli in garlic sauce - superb!
Highly recommends Alice's Bistro for a delicious, savory experience.
We have been coming regularly to this location since it was known as Wan's Kitchen. While there have been some changes to the menu and some growing pains since it has been changed to Alice's Bistro, the overall great experiences keep bringing us back. We actually think the quality and flavor of the food has improved with the change of ownership. You can tell Alice really cares about what comes out of her kitchen. My family from SF always wants to eat here for lunch when we are in the neighborhood and we have never been disappointed with the food specials.
I really enjoy their Sizzling Rice Soup and the Shrimp Stuffed Eggplant is to die for. I also love their fish dishes...very good food!
I love their hours 11-230 5-9p M-F but Wed closed. Sa/Su open only for dinner 5-9. Food was super good, loved the crispy Hong Kong style noodles, the garlic chicken, and the dried sauteed string beans. Alice is so nice and it's very casual here. We can hold a conversation here, its wonderful.
